BEIJING - Chinese shares closed higher Monday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.18 percent, or 4.92 points to close at 2,802.69.

The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.28 percent, or 34.22 to finish at 12,438.56.
