BEIJING--Chinese shares closed slightly higher on Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.13 percent, or 3.51 points, to 2,797.77.

The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.09 percent, or 11.41 points, to 12,404.34.
