Asia's biggest trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and service and the world's second largest Automechanika fair, will take place from December 8 to 11 at Shanghai New International Expo Center.

Exhibitors and visitors will have the chance to do business and network in China, the world's fastest growing automobile market. The exhibition space will be the largest ever covering 115,000 sq m in 10 halls. The total number of exhibitors is expected to surpass 2,700.

Despite the economic climate, the 2009 show attracted record numbers of participants and made other breakthroughs:

The exhibition area was the largest ever - 103,500 sq m covering nine halls.

The number of exhibitors increased 22 percent on 2008 to 2,414 from 24 countries and regions.

There were nine overseas pavilions from France, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, South Korea, Thailand and the United States as well as China's Taiwan province.

The number of visitors increased 25 percent to 38,551 from 132 countries and regions. Of these, 29 percent came from overseas.

Chinese buyers came from 29 provinces and municipalities.

Running alongside the show was a range of fringe events to keep participants updated with market trends and latest technologies. The 2009 fringe program include the Automechanika Academy, Matchmaking Forum, International Forum and Showcase of Service Outsourcing in the Manufacturing Industry, Automobile Maintenance Equipment Dealer Convention, Forum on China Auto Repair Industry, Forum on Low Carbon and Zero Carbon Vehicle Technologies, Summit of China Auto Electronic and Electrical Appliances Industry.

OE & aftermarket manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, chain stores, retailers, auto service providers including workshops and service stations, fleets and institutions also participated in the show. Important buyers included 3M, Denso, Delphi, FAW, Fiat, Gates Unitta, GM, Repco, SAIC, Scania, Valeo, Yellow Hat and many more.

These positive facts show that automotive manufacturers, suppliers and buyers know the importance of exhibiting at and visiting Automechanika Shanghai.

This year, the show will have special halls for various products segments, including:

Powertrain

Chassis

Electrics, electronics and sensor systems

Bodywork, interior, tuning & accessories and standard parts
