China stocks slightly up Wednesday

BEIJING - Chinese shares rose slightly Wednesday with banks leading the increase.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.31 percent to close at 2,655.71 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index expanded 0.55 percent to 10,146.63 points.

Total turnover shrank to 153.84 billion yuan ($22.52 billion) from 175.92 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 594 to 271 in Shanghai and 631 to 280 in Shenzhen.
