China's parcel delivery sector set a new record in handling nearly 200 billion parcels in 2025, up 13.7 percent year-on-year, according to the State Post Bureau of China.

Revenue from express delivery services reached 1.5 trillion yuan ($215 billion), marking a 6.5 percent increase from a year earlier, while total parcel volume climbed to 199 billion items.

Official projections for 2026 show that parcel deliveries are likely to reach 214 billion items, representing a year-on-year increase of about 8 percent, a representative from the bureau said on Wednesday.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–25), China's express delivery volume increased significantly, rising from over 80 billion parcels annually to nearly 200 billion, contributing more than 60 percent of global growth in the sector.

Over the same period, China's average number of parcels handled per person each year rose from 59 to 141, while single-day delivery volume hit a record 777 million items.

"The prosperity of the express delivery industry not only better meets people's growing demand for convenient postal services, but also directly reflects the resilience and vitality of China's economy," Zhao Chongjiu, head of the State Post Bureau of China, said at the bureau's annual conference in Beijing on Wednesday.
