Construction starts of new unit at nuclear power plant in Fujian
China General Nuclear Power Group, the country's largest nuclear power plant operator by installed capacity, announced on Tuesday that it has started the main construction phase of Unit 6 at the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant in Fujian province, following the successful pouring of the nuclear island's first concrete.
The Ningde Nuclear Power Project is planned to eventually host six megawatt-class nuclear power units. It is the first nuclear power station to commence construction and achieve commercial operation in Fujian province.
With Unit 6 now officially underway, the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant is positioned to continuously inject clean energy into Fujian province's economic and social development, aiding the region's efforts to optimize its energy mix and transition towards green, low-carbon power generation.
The expansion is also expected to provide significant momentum for the group as it strives to achieve its high-quality development goals outlined in the country's "14th Five-Year Plan" and build a world-class, distinguished brand in clean energy.
