China calls on Netherlands to quickly resolve Nexperia issue
China urged the Netherlands on Thursday to take effective efforts to quickly resolve the issues surrounding semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia, an overseas subsidiary of Chinese company Wingtech, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Recently, Wingtech sent a letter to the independent directors and equity trustees of Nexperia in the Netherlands, inviting them to China to discuss matters related to corporate control and the restoration of stable and smooth supply chains, demonstrating its goodwill in seeking solutions, He Yadong, spokesman for the ministry, said at a news conference in Beijing.
China has requested through the Netherlands' embassy in China that the Netherlands' Ministry of Economic Affairs implement the consensus reached with the Chinese side and facilitate the dispatch of representatives from Nexperia to China at an early date, He added.
"The issue concerning Nexperia arose from the Netherlands' government's undue administrative interference in corporate operations," He said.
"The Netherlands' Ministry of Economic Affairs bears the responsibility and must take concrete and constructive measures to create favorable conditions for internal corporate consultations."
"China has already adopted practical steps by facilitating the exports of legal civilian-use semiconductor products. China has demonstrated its responsible commitment to safeguarding the security and stability of the global semiconductor supply chain," He said.
