A new artificial intelligence computing platform has been put into operation in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei province, marking a step forward in China's efforts to build a highly efficient, intelligent, and green digital infrastructure.

The platform, deployed at the Xiong'an Urban Computing Center, can support general computing, AI computing, and high-performance computing. It allows for standardised access and smart scheduling of different computing resources through a single interface, according to a report by Hebei Daily.

It is designed to offer accurate, efficient, and green computing services for scenarios with high computing demands like AI model training and scientific research, providing flexible and reliable computing power for local AI companies, research institutes, and universities.

So far, the platform has connected 29 computing nodes across China, coordinating a total of 23,000 petaflops of heterogeneous computing power, according to the report.

The platform is expected to help improve overall computing resource utilization while reducing costs for users.

It also creates a foundation for sharing computing resources and cross-regional business coordination within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and even across the entire country, the report said.

Sun Ke in Shijiazhuang contributed to the story.
