The Xizang autonomous region received 63.7 million domestic and international tourists in the first three quarters of 2025, generating a cultural industry output of 11.25 billion yuan ($1.58 billion), according to Xizang Daily.

Authorities say the deepening integration of culture and tourism has become a key driver of high-quality regional development.

During the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Xizang tapped into its vast cultural and natural resources while strengthening ties with education, sports, and other sectors. Events such as the First Xizang E-sports Animation Culture and Tourism Week and the Taste of Xizang culinary campaign drew large crowds and created new opportunities for the region’s culture-tourism integration, it reported.

Building on existing cultural and tourism initiatives, the region has worked to diversify its industrial chain to offer richer and more dynamic products. Highlights include various cultural performances and ethnic concerts.

Local art troupes performed in rural areas, ensuring that cultural services reached communities at all levels, from urban centers to remote villages.

Sports tourism also played a key role in injecting vitality into the integration of culture and tourism, with sports events such as cycling races and half-marathons attracting participants and fostering social engagement across the region.
