Infant respiratory health education project unveiled

An infant respiratory health education project, named "Breathe Well", initiated by the China Population Welfare Foundation and supported by Sanofi, was officially launched on Saturday.

Guests called for greater protection of babies' respiratory health and a healthier future for the next generation.

Because infants' respiratory systems are still developing, they are highly vulnerable to respiratory infections, making the infections the biggest reason for pediatric visits to outpatient departments and a heavy burden on families and the healthcare system. The project will focus on respiratory syncytial virus, influenza and pertussis, three of the most common and serious childhood respiratory diseases.

Offline, a science train on Beijing Metro Line 19 turns the daily commute into a rolling classroom, while in Shanghai an immersive art space near Jing'an Temple offers passers-by a vivid look at how these viruses attack the lungs and how simple preventive measures can stop them.

Online, short videos, infographics and interactive posts on major social platforms will push the same messages to millions of young parents.

From raising disease awareness to promoting evidence-based prevention, from hand-hygiene tips to home-care guidance, the campaign aims to give families and society the knowledge and tools they need to cut infection rates.

CPWF and Sanofi said the project will keep expanding through new multimedia channels, contributing to the Healthy China 2030 goals and to a more family-friendly society.
