MOSCOW -- The US strikes against targets in Iran were a detrimental blow to the nuclear non-proliferation regime, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
"There is a nuclear non-proliferation regime. At the legal level, this international mechanism does exist. The US strikes that thundered across Iranian territory have dealt a huge blow to the regime," Peskov told the media. "What happens next is a question for the international community."
In a statement on Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the attacks on Iran have caused enormous damage to the credibility of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the International Atomic Energy Agency verification and monitoring system based on it.
