Ceremony commemorates legendary ancestor of the Chinese civilization Fuxi

The 2025 commemoration ceremony for Fuxi, a legendary ancestor of the Chinese civilization, was held in Tianshui, Gansu province, on Saturday. On the same day, the joint ceremony was also conducted in New Taipei City in Taiwan, marking the 12th consecutive year of joint commemoration of Fuxi across the Taiwan Strait.
The ceremony commenced at 9:50 am at the Fuxi Square in downtown Tianshui. With the harmonious sounds of bells and drums, the solemn atmosphere was palpable. Delegates from home and abroad proceeded orderly to the Fuxi Temple to pay respects, offer floral tributes, and express their reverence and remembrance.

Sharing the same root and the same blood, participants, including former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang party, Ma Ying-jeou, joined the event in Tianshui. He hopes that the young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, by engaging in the solemn rituals honoring the legendary ancestor of Chinese civilization, would deepen their pride as descendants of the Yellow Emperor, and further join hands to cooperate and create a bright future for the Chinese nation.

Tianshui is the birthplace of Fuxi and cradle of Fuxi culture. Since ancient times, it has had a tradition of commemorating Fuxi. The annual ceremony commemorating Fuxi was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage by the State Council since 2006.
The 2025 commemoration ceremony for Fuxi was hosted by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Gansu Provincial People's Government, and organized by the Tianshui Municipal People's Government. About 750 participants from home and abroad took part in the ceremony.
