The Xishuangbanna ASEAN International Integrated Transportation Service Center was officially put into service on Friday in Jinghong, Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province.

Meanwhile, the launch ceremony for the China-Laos International Road Transportation Services was held simultaneously in Kunming and Xishuangbanna, marking a new stage of normalized and efficient operation for China-Laos international road transport.

Five passenger buses and 10 freight trucks loaded with goods departed from Kunming and Xishuangbanna, heading toward Laos.

Located in the core area of Jinghong's transportation hub, the service center integrates functions such as long-distance passenger transport, urban public transportation, tourism distribution, cross-border transportation and specialty commerce.

As the largest and most comprehensive transportation hub in Xishuangbanna, the center provides comprehensive services for domestic and foreign tourists, including travel information consultation, customized route planning, and ticket booking.

It enables seamless transfers between air, rail, road and waterway transportation, solving travel challenges for tourists and enhancing their travel convenience and comfort.

"A total of 76 parking spaces have been equipped with the capacity of serving 260 passengers every 15 minutes during peak hours," said Long Wen, general manager assistant of Hongyu Public Transport Management and Operation Service Co Ltd. "There is also a souvenir store where passengers can purchase specialty products from countries such as Laos and Thailand. In the future, we will also add services such as currency exchange and communication facilities."

During peak passenger flow periods, the center can rely on an intelligent dispatch system to scientifically plan traffic flows, allocate transportation resources accurately, enhance capacity assurance, and effectively handle peak tourist flows.

Since the opening of the China-Laos Railway in 2021, Xishuangbanna has rapidly become an important hub for connectivity between China and ASEAN, with international passenger flows experiencing explosive growth.

Data shows that in 2024, Xishuangbanna received 319,500 overseas tourist visits with a year-on-year increase of 264.67 percent.

Among them, visitors from Laos, Thailand and Myanmar ranked among the top.

The center has opened four passenger routes between China and Laos.
