China's most advanced icebreaking research vessel, Xuelong 2, docked at the Chuk Samet Pier in Sattahip, Thailand, on May 19 to commence a five-day official visit.
The ship's stay, during which it is open to the public, is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand.
It also marks the close ties between the two countries in science and technology, culture, and diplomacy.
Both Thailand and China stated that the visit is an opportunity to continuously expand cooperation in areas such as polar research and environmental protection, and jointly addressing the challenges brought by global climate change.
