Yang Zixing, former vice-governor of Gansu province, has been indicted on charges of bribery and exploiting his influence for personal gain, according to a statement released on the official website of the Supreme People's Procuratorate on Tuesday.

The case, investigated by the National Commission of Supervision, was handed over to the Weinan people's procuratorate in Shaanxi province for review and prosecution under the SPP's designation. The procuratorate recently filed the lawsuit with the Weinan intermediate people's court.

According to the indictment, Yang allegedly took advantage of his various official positions to seek benefits for others and illegally accepted large sums of money.

After leaving office, he allegedly exploited his former position as vice-governor to influence other state functionaries, securing improper benefits for others and accepting large sums of money.

Prosecutors concluded that Yang should be charged with bribery and the crime of using influence to obtain bribes.
