The United Nations Office in Nairobi on Wednesday held colorful celebrations to mark Chinese New Year-the year of the Wood Snake.

Attendees were treated to enthralling performances by martial artists and opera performers from central China's Henan province, as well as Chinese arts and mouthwatering Chinese cuisine.

Speaking at the event, Zainab Hawa Bangura, the director general of the United Nations Office in Nairobi, said the snake in the Chinese zodiac symbolizes intuition and strategy and good element represents growth and plan.
