German sportscar maker Porsche is showcasing its pioneering "turbo spirit" at the ongoing China International Import Expo as it transitions from the era of combustion engines to electrification.

One highlight of its booth is a 911 Turbo (930), which was shipped from Stuttgart to Shanghai for the event, where it made its China debut on Tuesday.

This iconic model, the first production sports car globally with an exhaust gas turbocharger, not only launched a new era in sports car technology but also became a timeless classic, celebrated for its performance and distinctive design.

Though "turbo" once referred specifically to turbocharging technology, Porsche has retained the term for its most powerful models in the electric age.

This reinterpretation of "turbo" reflects the brand's ongoing pursuit of top-tier performance, said the carmaker.

Highlighting this evolution, Porsche is also showcasing the all-electric Macan Turbo at the CIIE, which offers a maximum output of 470 kW, peak torque of 1,130 Nm, and an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

"Porsche has a special connection with the Turbo. Our electric models continue this tradition, reflecting the brand's rich history in sports car manufacturing and our unwavering commitment to driving excellence," said Alexander Pollich, president and CEO of Porsche China.

As Porsche participates in the CIIE for the seventh consecutive year, the event remains a key platform for the brand to connect with Chinese consumers and showcase its latest innovations.

"As the world's first import-themed, national-level expo, the CIIE provides an excellent platform for Porsche. Porsche aims to enhance communication and interaction with Chinese consumers, while presenting Porsche's newest developments," Pollich added.

In a show of its long-term commitment to the Chinese market, Pollich also announced the establishment of Porsche (Shanghai) Investment Limited, which is poised to drive further business development and investment opportunities in the future.

This new entity highlights Porsche's confidence in its growth potential in China, now one of the world's largest markets for luxury and electric vehicles, and also paves the way for more business development and investment opportunities in the future, said the company.
