Global food processing and packaging leader Tetra Pak has expanded its innovations in China to include categories such as whipping cream, cheese, plant-based and ice-cream to meet the diverse demands from consumers.

On May 21, Bakery China 2024, organized by the China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry, kicked off in Shanghai, attracting more than 2,200 brand exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions and more than 400,000 visitors. Tetra Pak has participated in the exhibition for three consecutive years.

This year Tetra Pak has expanded to products including cheese, whipping cream, plant-based and ice cream, in addition to its core business in solutions for liquid milk or beverage products.

For example, with rising demand for mascarpone cheese, originated from Italy as an essential ingredient for popular desserts such as tiramisu and Basque cheesecake, Tetra Pak has solutions ready in China to produce mascarpone cheese that can keep a shelf life of up to 8 months.

In the plant-based product category, the company has developed a concentrated soy milk with a high protein content of eight percent and a light taste, designed to be space-efficient and cost-effective, for on-premise coffee chains and tea drink stores.

Angela Mou, vice-president of corporate communications for Tetra Pak Greater China, said: "The consumption behavior of Chinese consumers is constantly evolving, with increasing focus on a healthy lifestyle and diversified demands."

"Tetra Pak, which has been in China for 45 years, will continue to help our customers quickly capture market trends in the bakery sector by providing end-to-end solutions to meet Chinese consumers' pursuit of high-quality bakery products and a high-quality life," Mou added.
