China, US hold constructive dialogue during economic working group meeting

China and the United States have engaged in candid, in-depth and constructive exchanges during the fourth meeting of the China-US economic working group held on Tuesday in Washington, the Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday.

Liao Min, Chinese vice-minister of finance, co-chaired the meeting with Jay Shambaugh, Under Secretary for International Affairs at the US Treasury. Focusing on the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, the two sides exchanged views on topics including the global and the two countries' macroeconomic situations and balanced growth, and future communication arrangement.

China expressed concerns over the US trade and economic restrictions against China and provided further responses on the production capacity issue. Both sides agreed to maintain communication and dialogue.

Following the meeting, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen met with the Chinese delegation.
