Shanghai's two airports see mass growth in tourism over Spring Festival

Shanghai's two airports have handled 4.38 million passenger trips along with 27,000 flight landings and takeoffs during the peak days of this year's Spring Festival, according to the Shanghai Airport Authority.

The Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport have received 80.3 percent more passenger trips compared to the same period last year from Feb 6 until Saturday (Feb 17). A total of 27,000 flights landed or took off during the same period, up 38.4 percent year-on-year.

To be more specific, as many as 2,361 flights either landed or took off at the city's two airports on Feb 8, while some 395,000 passenger trips came in and out of Shanghai's airports on Thursday (Feb 15), setting the single-day record during the annual 40-day rush period, data from the Shanghai Airport Authority showed.
