The environmental protection efforts by Nantong in Jiangsu province have paid off with burgeoning green industries, bluer skies and clearer waters, and increased wildlife diversity.

Any individual entering the chemical industrial park in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone will discover the refreshing absence of any unpleasant smells common in such places, helping it secure the title of the first odor-free park in the city, as decreed by local authorities.

Another chemical industrial park in Rudong county has upgraded its green manufacturing system, equipment, and requirements in cyclic utilization and pollutant discharge to establish a green and low-carbon industrial chain.

In 2023, the PM 2.5 concentration in Nantong was 27.2 micrograms per cubic meter and the number of days with good air quality reached 305, both ranking first in Jiangsu.

A healthy natural environment nurtures more wildlife species. Last year, Nantong recorded the presence of 3,789 wildlife species, 281 species more than the previous observation data and accounting for half of the species in the province.
