China's parcel delivery sector aims to increase accessibility in rural areas

China's parcel delivery sector has set the goal to establish 100,000 new parcel delivery and logistics service stations in villages this year to boost the parcel delivery services in rural areas, according to the State Post Bureau of China on Friday.
As a pilot initiative, Beijing aims to ensure all villages in the city have a place to offer parcel delivery service by the end of this year.
According to the bureau, the station that offers parcel delivery and logistics services can be the village grocery store, community centers, e-commerce service stations or unused houses.
Charitable posts are encouraged to be set up to facilitate the smooth operation of the stations in rural areas.
China has promoted parcel delivery service in rural areas in recent years. The country has established a total of 1,267 county-level public parcel delivery distribution centers, 289,000 rural parcel delivery and logistics service stations, and 190,000 village postal stations.
