HARBIN - The slogan, emblem, and mascots for the 9th Asian Winter Games have been officially unveiled here on Thursday.

The 2025 Asian Winter Games organizers launched the official slogan "Dream of Winter, Love among Asia" around one year away from the opening of the Games in the capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang province.

At the launching ceremony, the organizers also presented the adorable tiger mascots "Binbin" and "Nini" and the official emblem which is the fusion of a short track speed skater figure, a lilac flower and dancing ribbons.

The mascots and emblem were created by the team from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University.

Chen Lei, head of the mascots and emblem design team, explained that the emblem, named "Breakthrough", combines Chinese culture with Olympic elements.

"It shows China's pursuit of becoming a sporting powerhouse in the new era and its willingness to contribute to the ice and snow sports in Asia," Chen noted.

Whereas for the mascots, they were inspired by two Siberian tiger cubs born in last September in the Heilongjiang Siberian Tiger Park, Chen added.

According to the organizers, since the global solicitation for the slogan, emblem, and mascots was released on Sept 19, 2023, a total of 4,608 valid entries have been received.

"We believe that the slogan, emblem and mascots will become historical imprints to be passed down, shining brightly in the Olympic Movement," said Zhang Qixiang, vice chairman of the organizing committee and mayor of Harbin.
