New book launched to show China's development

China Development Report, the first such book launched by the Development Research Center of the State Council, showed the achievements of China's economic and social development, the center said during a new book launching event in Beijing on Monday.
The book mainly includes the achievements of China's economic and social development in 2022, including the overall development, the development in technological innovation, urban and rural coordination, green development, China's opening-up, and high-quality population growth.
Last year, China's GDP growth reached 3 percent. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, China's contribution rate to global economic growth was close to 20 percent. Against the backdrop of high inflation globally, China maintained basic stability of price levels, the report said.
"The publication of this book is of great significance. With high-quality development as the top priority in building China into a modern socialist country in all respects, it highlights new development characteristics distinguished from previous stages," said Gao Peiyong, former deputy director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Today, China is facing rare historical opportunities as well as risks and challenges. Recording the process of Chinese modernization and exploring major issues embody significance for the development of both China and the world, the book said.
