Weihai city in East China's Shandong province is ramping up efforts in the power sector, with the constitution of the phase two project of Allen Bay Marine Ranch, an intelligent low-carbon and complementary energy efficiency service demonstration zone.

"Through upgrades, our breeding area is expected to save more than 100,000 yuan ($14,008) in labor costs per year, and annual output can grow by 5 percent, with an increase of 400,000 yuan in annual output value," said a director of Allen Bay's comprehensive breeding area.

The upgrade he mentioned is the core part of this demonstration zone — the Marine Ranch Smart Energy Efficiency Management Platform. It can intelligently regulate the breeding environment and achieve reasonable control of indoor temperatures in summer and winter so as to facilitate the reproduction of marine organisms throughout the four seasons.

The phase two project of the Allen Bay Marine Ranch is the first intelligent low-carbon and multi-energy complementary energy efficiency service demonstration zone in Shandong province.

In combination with the marine ranching industry model, State Grid Weihai Power Supply Company has developed a smart energy efficiency management platform, in collaboration with Shandong University's marine carbon negative research center and other units.
