Chinese smartphone vendor Vivo unveiled on Monday night in Beijing its latest smartphone that supports an artificial intelligence large language model to stand out amid intensified competitions.

The move is part of Vivo's broader push to hone its technological prowess and expand its presence in the high-end market.

Huang Tao, vice president of Vivo, said the Vivo X100 smartphone series will be equipped with the company's self-developed AI large language model which features 7 billion parameters.

The large language model supports various interaction types, including voice, picture, text, video, gesture, sign language and even brainwave recognition, Vivo said.

The latest report from the US market research company International Data Corp showed that the shipment volume of China's smartphone market in the third quarter of 2023 was approximately 6.705 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.3 percent.

Although the domestic smartphone market has been declining year-on-year for 10 consecutive quarters, the recovery is imminent and companies are scrambling to launch new products to lure consumers, experts said.
