Two arrested in Asian Games security scam


Police in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province have arrested suspects in a case involving the forgery of a company seal for the illegal recruitment of security personnel for the 19th Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou and five other cities from Sept 23 to Oct 8.
Two suspects have been taken into criminal custody, a police report released on Wednesday said.
The two suspects surnamed Fan and Xian forged the seal of a security company and a qualification paper for Asian Games security service to recruit security personnel from other provinces to work in Hangzhou.
A large number of job applicants arrived in Hangzhou , but were not provided with any work arrangements.
The case is under further investigation.
Hangzhou police reminded the public all security companies that have won bids for the Hangzhou Asian Games have never conducted personnel recruitment under the name of the Asian Games security.
Any information regarding the recruitment of security personnel under the name of the Asian Games, whether online or offline, is false.
In addition, the registration process for the recruitment of volunteers for the Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games concluded on Dec 31, 2022.
The police urged people from all walks of life to exercise caution, avoid falling victim to scams and report any losses or illegal infringements immediately.
