SAP eyes AI to empower higher performance in businesses

Generative artificial intelligence technologies are seen as essential growth drivers when integrated with extensive industry-specific data and deep process knowledge in companies'ERP systems, said Germany-based ERP solutions provider SAP in its latest China summit.

As a world-wide embraced solution, enterprise resource planning (ERP) is designed to integrate various business processes and functions into a unified software system, enabling companies to streamline operations, improve efficiency and make data-driven decisions.

"We see huge opportunities in AI for business use. It can be applied in almost every business process to ensure efficient operating and resource allocation, predict and defuse interruptions, as well as improve employees'performance,"said Scott Russell, a member of the executive board at SAP.

SAP business AI has a wide range of applications, Russell said. For example, it can assist businesses in generating forecasts for future financial performance, provide strategic solutions for companies and guide them in making adaptive adjustments when predictions deviate from their actual performance. Additionally, generative AI technologies and large-scale natural language models can also be employed in human resource management to optimize talent acquisition processes and streamline employee engagement initiatives, he added.

"Try to picture a situation where AI can help your hiring managers write compelling job descriptions, and quickly generate interview questions tailored to different candidates."

As the first SAP executive board member to visit China after the COVID-19 pandemic, Russell also shared his outlook on the market's potential, he said: "I am thrilled to be back in China. There is nothing more important than listening to and understanding our customers'needs in order to be able to best deliver innovative solutions to China.
