TIANJIN -- Netherlands-based NXP Semiconductors N.V. officially launched its AIoT Application Innovation Center in North China's Tianjin municipality on Friday.

The center is Phase 2 of its AIoT (AI and Internet of Things) Lab in Tianjin, NXP said. The AIoT Application Demo Lab, or Phase 1 of the AIoT Lab, was inaugurated in 2021.

Covering an area of 1,200 square meters, the center has six functions: education and training, technical exchange, brainstorming, meeting and reception, entertainment and team building, and cloud lab.

The cloud lab is NXP's first public online lab in the world. It allows users to watch NXP's latest products and their demonstration in real-time online and also supports online debugging, code upgrading, automatic testing, and request for support.

NXP also announced the official renewal of the contract with NXP Qiangxin (Tianjin) IC Design Co Ltd, a joint venture set up in 2002 by NXP and Tianjin Qiangxin IC Design Co Ltd.

Ron Martino, executive vice president of Global Sales at NXP, said China has been one of the most important markets for NXP and, for over 36 years, the company has been working closely with local partners.

"The inauguration of the AIoT Application Innovation Center and the renewal of our contract with Qiangxin are important milestones for us in China, which attests to our commitment to Chinese customers and marks another result of our continued investment in China," Martino said.

"We look forward to providing new drivers for the innovation and development of Chinese companies through a series of local investment projects to help create a better, safer, and more sustainable world," he said.
