Beijing, the capital of China, has taken the crown as the most attractive city for talents in China, China Economic Weekly reported.

Shanghai grabbed the second spot, followed by Shenzhen and Guangzhou - both from South China's Guangdong province.

Thanks to abundant economic foundation and higher strategic positioning, eastern cities continue to attract more talents, with seven in the top 10 ranking.

In comparison, China's central, western and northeastern regions saw continual talent outflow.

Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, where e-commerce experienced rapid development, took fifth place. The city saw its net inflow of talents increase steadily between 2017 and 2021.

Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, came in at sixth. Thanks to active economic development and advanced innovation industries, talents inflow in the city has changed from negative to positive.

According to the report, the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions have gathered more talents and the flow of talents in these regions has showed a declining trend.
