SAIC Motor, China's largest carmaker by sales, has set a goal of scaling up its NEV deliveries to 3.5 million units by 2025, more than tripling the figure last year.

It unveiled the goal at the ongoing Shanghai auto show, where it demonstrates latest models bearing marques from MG to IM.

Such indigenous brands are expected to account for 70 percent of SAIC's NEV sales goal, said the Shanghai-based carmaker, which is the Chinese partner of Volkswagen and GM.

SAIC has built a mixed portfolio of electric models from its marques including IM, which targets at the premium sector, and Roewe, one of the most popular brands in the country.

The Mulan, or the MG4 Electric as it is known overseas, is the carmaker's first model developed for the global market.

It hit the market last year and is now available in a number of countries including Italy and the United Kingdom.

Its deliveries in Europe SAIC expects the model's sales to reach 150,000 units this year.

SAIC said more NEVs are coming to the market. Its IM will launch four models in three years, and Rising, MG and Roewe will roll out 13 in the same period.
