China and EU strengthening ties is important, a new book says

It is of great significance for both China and the European Union to strengthen trade and investment ties and expand common interests, to propel growth and benefit the people, according to a new book recently published by the China Translation & Publishing House.
China and the EU has strong complementarity in their economic and trade relations, and the dependence between China and Europe in trade, investment and other fields remains high. To cope with new challenges in the global situations, China and the EU must make the "pie" of common interests between them bigger through healthy competition and mutually beneficial cooperation, the book said.
Zhang Monan, deputy director of the Institute of American and European Studies, China Center for International Economic Exchanges, said the values of China-EU trade and investment have repeatedly hit new highs in recent years, which has fully reflected the complementarity and strong resilience of their economic and trade relations.
The new highs in bilateral trade and investment have also reflected that the deepening China-EU economic and trade cooperation roots in the combined effect of market forces and corporate choices, she said, who is one of the authors of the book.
The release event for a new book on the China-EU relations published by the China Translation & Publishing House is held in Beijing at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges.
