Huzhou's Deqing county recently unveiled the nation's first provincial standards regarding the promotion of digitalization in rural construction and governance.

The standards, which were formulated under the guidance of the Cyberspace Administration of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, will be implemented on March 29, authorities said.

The document, which specifies the criteria for aspects like digital facilities, digital economy, digital life, and digital governance, is aimed at offering guidance for digital rural construction in Zhejiang.

Deqing has in recent years been a leader in Zhejiang in reshaping rural governance using digital technologies like Internet of Things.

Authorities have come up with a pattern in which a village is managed through a map based on technologies like big data and IoT.

Information on time, location, transportation, garbage classification, and sewage treatment can be displayed on the map and updated in real time, according to Zhao Fangzheng, deputy head of the Deqing Big Data Development Bureau.

The digital governance system has been selected as an exemplary example of implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
