Kia, a marque of South Korea's Hyundai, launched the new-generation K3 sedan in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Monday.

The gasoline model, available in six variants, is tailor-made for young customers in the world's largest vehicle market, said the carmaker.

The new K3, with seven colors, has a sporty design. In terms of performance, has two engine options: a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine and a 1.5-liter Smartstream engine.

Onboard it has a 10.25-inch dashboard and a 10.25-inch smart display, among other things. The model also boasts Kia Connect 3.0 system and Level 2 driving-assist functions.

The K3 sedan, which first hit the Chinese market in 2012, was the first Kia model to see its accumulative sales to exceed 1 million units.

Yang Honghai, chief operating officer of Kia China, said the carmaker will focus on both gasoline and electric vehicles, adding that it will introduce more models to beef up its lineup in China.

Kia unveiled a new China strategy last year to enhance its competitive edge in the country.

According to the plan, it will introduce the electric EV6 built on its E-GMP platform into China this year. By 2027, it will have six electric models available in the country.
