Suspect charged in nail gun attack on doctor
Prosecutors in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, announced on Tuesday they had approved the arrest of the man suspected of shooting a doctor with a modified nail gun at a local hospital for the crime of intentional homicide.
The Shenyang People's Procuratorate disclosed the news on its official WeChat account, saying approval was given after their investigation.
It added the doctor surnamed Bai is still receiving medical treatment.
At 9:53 am on Feb 2, the suspect surnamed Ma, 66, attacked and injured Bai at the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ma was quickly captured by the Huanggu branch of the Shenyang Security Bureau.
Bai is deputy director of the hospital's spleen and stomach department and once treated a family member of Ma, a medical worker of the hospital told Jiankang Daily, a health-related news outlet.
