Companies from Gansu province signed eight cooperative and trade orders valued at more than 73.2 million yuan ($10.6 million) during the 2022 Gansu Featured Agricultural Products International Matchmaking Sourcing Fair held in Qingyang on Monday.

A total of 68 enterprises from 11 cities and prefectures in the province displayed more than 200 kinds of agricultural products during the fair.

In addition to increasing sales, they sought expansion of cooperation with counterparts at home and abroad.

Wu Lixia, vice-president of the Gansu Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said the province, with its rich and diverse climate types and abundant sunlight, clean soil, water resources and air — plus a big temperature differential — has good natural conditions for developing its characteristic agriculture.

The province has been a major production base of high-quality agricultural products in the country, Wu said.

She said her council is expecting to construct a major platform to help local companies expand their sales and promote Gansu's overall economic growth in the years to come.

Xu Gang, deputy mayor of Qingyang, said his city has a long and brilliant history of agricultural development and unique agricultural production conditions for high-quality agricultural products.

"Qingyang's green, high-quality, safe and healthy agricultural products — including apples, minor cereals, day lilies, mutton and related products — have wide market prospects."

"Qingyang is now building a modern ecological agricultural circular industry chain to help promote sales and develop its economy," he said.

The fair was organized both offline and online with two sub-venues in Indonesia and Nepal.
