A spokesman for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to pursue open, green and clean development in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative.

Sun Yeli, the spokesman, told a news conference on Saturday that the initiative, first proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013, has been warmly received by the international community.

Going forward, he said Beijing will continue to follow the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits in Belt and Road cooperation.

"We will strive for higher standards of cooperation, better deliverables from input, higher-quality supply, and stronger resilience in development," he said.

China has signed Belt and Road corporation documents with over 140 countries and 30 international organizations, with its trading goods with BRI partner countries reaching around $12 trillion as of June.
