1-year countdown song for Asian Games released

A Chinese song — Beautiful Scenery — that was created to mark the one-year countdown to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 was performed on Friday by internet celebrity Guo Congming.

"The song's arrangement is very modern, conveying a different feeling from the strong tension of competitive sports," said Zhou Bin, chairman of the Zhejiang Pop Music Association.

Featuring a lively rhythm, the song uses the guzheng and pipa for its main chord. The lyrics add many Hangzhou elements, such as sunsets, nightingales, evening bells and lotus flowers.

"Beautiful Scenery, the promotional song of the host city, not only shows the charming scenery and culture of the southern Yangtze River but also the vitality and innovative spirit of Hangzhou," said Weng Chi, a music guide expert for the upcoming Asian Games.

"It's not only a sports event but also a cultural exchange event. I hope this song will convey a sense of happiness to the guests as they gather for the Games."
