What they say
This project launched on May 2021, participated in by nearly 50,000 English-speaking participants from around the world, and after rounds of competitions, 400 outstanding participants advanced to the finals and three English Star winners were chosen. I would like to extend my congratulations to all of you for your hard work. You are also encouraged to be a part of the Hangzhou Asian Games where I believe you can bring the Games participants closer with your language skills.
Husain Al-Musallam, director general of the Olympic Council of Asia
The contest has provided an opportunity for young contestants to tell the world sports stories, and carry forward the sporting spirit. I have heard many excellent speeches during the contest, the contestants presented their perceptions of the competition's theme from many perspectives. Some students shared with us their personal experiences and told the stories of Olympic winners and recipients of the July 1 Medal. Others paid attention to certain groups, such as doctors, nurses and the delivery guys who participated in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. From these different perspectives, contestants can achieve a more grand and deeper thinking, such as the truth of life, the goodness of human nature, social fairness and justice, gender equality, goodwill, conscience, respect, biological diversity and environmental protection. I'd like to give three main pieces of advice for future contestants, that is, to improve the hierarchy and logic of speech, to fully prepare for the Q&A session, and to choose an in-depth speech topic.

I have known about the volunteers for the Games for a long time, and I have seen them on TV. I believe what they show is sacrifice, and that it is a simple act to contribute to the success of the Asian Games in Hangzhou. They make a commitment to others to help our fellow citizens, and it is a meaningful act. The volunteers for the Asian Games are young and energetic. As for me, I can help through language as I may have an advantage in this area. First, I will keep honing my skills, then help a little bit at a time. I will do whatever I can to help.
Jin Xiaoyu, a local volunteer from Hangzhou
The Asian Games are going to be a chance to see both the beauty of Hangzhou and the beauty of sport. As we all live on this Earth, it gives all of us the opportunity and the duty to do what we can so that we can help others. You don't have to do anything too big, and I think even as a volunteer, doing small things like giving your time and your effort can help you make small steps to get much bigger results, which would be beneficial for everyone.
