China's Zhang Shuai eases into last 16 at US Open

NEW YORK -- China's Zhang Shuai reached the last 16 at the US Open for the first time after defeating Canadian Rebecca Marino in straight sets on Friday.
The two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist was too strong for Marino, seeing off her world No. 106 opponent 6-2, 6-4 in 63 minutes.
The 33-year-old Zhang will face the winner between Americans Madison Keys and Coco Gauff in the fourth round.
Zhang came to New York as the women's doubles defending champion and has progressed past the first round on Thursday.
She will also start her mixed doubles campaign later on Friday with Croat Mate Pavic.
