New ministerial-level officials appointed by legislative body

China appointed and removed key ministerial-level officials of the country's top prosecutor, national supervision commission, and ministries of industry and information technology as well as emergency management on Friday.

Ying Yong, 64, was appointed deputy procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, according to the decision adopted by the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, China's top legislative body.

Previously, Ying served as Party chief of Hubei province since early 2020 when the province was hit hard by the COVID-19 epidemic. Before his role in Hubei, he had worked as Shanghai mayor for three years.

Jin Zhuanglong, born in 1964, was appointed minister of industry and information technology, replacing Xiao Yaqing, who was placed under investigation for suspected violations of discipline and laws in July, the decision added.

Jin has abundant experience working in the country's aerospace industry. He acted successively as the deputy head of China National Space Administration and the chairman of Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, according to public information.

In 2017, he announced the success of the maiden flight of the C919 jet as the producer of the nation's first-ever large homegrown airliner.

Another newly named minister is Wang Xiangxi, who is now leading the Ministry of Emergency Management, while Huang Ming was removed from the post, according to the decision.

Previously, the 60-year-old Wang worked in Hubei province for nearly four decades and had acted as chairman of the State-owned China Energy Investment Corp since 2019.

Also on Friday, Zhang Chunsheng, born in 1964, was removed as a member of the National Supervisory Commission.

His removal came after the State Council appointed him as the vice-minister of civil affairs in early August.
