US talk removing tariffs against China, China ready to move forward
A pullback of all the additional tariffs on China made by the United States will have substantial effects on curbing US inflation, and early action will benefit enterprises and consumers quickly, according to Shu Jueting, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.
Shu made the remarks at a media conference, after being asked for comments on recent media reports that the US is weighing options on lifting levies against Chinese imports.
"China always believes removing all the US additional tariffs against China will benefit the two countries and the world," Shu said.
"Multiple Chinese and US think tanks and research institutes have estimated that full pullback of the tariffs will have substantial effect on curbing US domestic inflation levels," she said, adding that amid the high inflation levels, the earlier the US removes the tariffs, the sooner consumers and enterprises will be benefited.
The two countries should meet each other halfway and join hands to create conditions for economic and trade cooperation, safeguard the stability of global trade and industrial chain and bring benefits to people in both the countries and worldwide, according to her.
