Three-generation family cares for ancient ruins in Xinjiang

It is midsummer, the Jiaohe Ancient City Ruins, like a prehistoric ship, are quietly moored under the scorching sun of Turpan, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Guri Bakri, a 39-year-old conservator of the Jiaohe Ruins, starts her daily inspection at the site as usual, ensuring the safety of tourists and making photographic records along the way.

Since 1972, three generations of Guri's family, including her grandfather, father and herself, have been working as local cultural conservators, safeguarding this historic site for half a century.
