According to data from Ctrip, the most popular travel spots are those close to nature, such as forest parks, zoos and botanical gardens. Transactions for the Shanghai Zoo on Ctrip increased by 72 percent compared with the same period in 2019. Internet access to the page of Oriental Pearl Tower, one of Shanghai's most iconic attractions, increased by more than 20 percent month-to-month.

Data from online travel agency Qunar.com showed as of noon on Wednesday, the number of hotel reservations in Shanghai exceeded the same period on Tuesday. Four-star hotels are on the fastest track for recovery. Their bookings on Tuesday increased nearly five times compared with the day before.

The homestay market is also seeing a spike in orders. Tujia, a Chinese short-term lodging rental platform, saw search volume for homestays in Shanghai on Tuesday nearly double from Monday. Zhu Wei, who is charge of a homestay in the suburbs of Shanghai, told ThePaper his homestay has been accessible to preorder on Tujia since Tuesday, and it has filled up on Thursday. Subsequent orders are gradually recovering, Zhu said.
