China wins 9 medals in first stop of World Rowing Cup 2022

BELGRADE - Chinese rowers won nine medals at the 2022 World Rowing Cup I which finished at the Sava Lake in Belgrade, Serbia on Sunday.

Composed of Zang Ha, Yi Xudi, Liu Zhiyu and Adilijiang Sulitan, the Chinese men's quadruple sculls won the gold medal, ahead of crews from the Netherlands and Lithuania.

Moreover, Chinese crews picked up silver medals in women's single, double, quadruple skulls and eight, as well as bronze in women's single sculls, four and eight and men's four.

Britain finished at the top of the overall ranking with 14 medals (8 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze), followed by the Netherlands (4 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze), Australia (2 gold, 2 silver), and China.

Most of the races at the World Rowing Cup I, which took place from May 27 to 29, were held under frequent spring showers, while competition was interrupted on several occasions due to thunderstorms.

The second stop of the 2022 World Rowing Cup series is scheduled to be held in Poznan, Poland from June 17 to 19, while the third and final event will be held in Luzerne, Switzerland from July 8 to 10.
