China Mobile net profit up 6.5% in Q1

BEIJING - China Mobile, one of the country's leading telecommunication operators, reported net profit growth of 6.5 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022.

The company's net profit stood at 25.6 billion yuan ($3.96 billion) in the first three months, the company said in a statement.

The operator raked in 227.3 billion yuan in operating revenue in the period, up 14.6 percent year-on-year, according to the statement.

As of the end of March, mobile subscribers of the company came in at 967 million, with 5G subscribers reaching 467 million.
