Shanghai reports three local transmissions

Shanghai reported three new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 15 asymptomatic cases on Tuesday.

According to the municipal health authority, one locally transmitted case from Jing'an district tested positive when she went to a hospital after showing symptoms including fever.

The 233 North Henan Road Beizhan sub-district in Jing'an, the workplace of the patient, was subsequently categorized as a medium-risk area for the virus' spread.

The other cases were close contacts of the confirmed cases announced in the past days, and tested positive during their quarantine.

As of 4 pm Tuesday, 2,449 close contacts and 6,039 secondary close contacts of the new cases had been identified and put under quarantine. Among them, 8,348 nucleic acid test results are negative so far. Tests are still ongoing.
