According to the latest statistics, in 2021, Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recorded 361 days with air quality meeting national standards and zero days with moderately polluted air or worse.

Guiyang's excellent and good air quality rate in 2021 was 98.9 percent, meeting China's national second-level standard.

To protect the air quality, the city has made additional plans and taken measures to reduce days with polluted air. Guiyang is gradually promoting ultra-low atmosphere emissions and controlling volatile organic compounds produced by iron and steel manufacturers and oil and gas recycling by gas stations.

Guiyang has also started the precise monitoring of non-road mobile machinery, real-time monitoring of exhaust emissions, remote monitoring of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and remote sensor monitoring of vehicles discharging visible pollutants.

Guiyang has also realized micro-atmospheric monitoring network coverage at the township, town and community levels, while having established three demonstration projects for controlling flowing dust pollution at construction sites.
