Baotou debuts investment promotion on Facebook, Twitter

"Invest Baotou", newly-set up accounts on overseas social media platforms by Baotou municipal government and China Daily Website, was officially launched on Dec 31.

Global audiences can now catch up with the latest business information of Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on both Facebook and Twitter, two of the most popular social media networks worldwide.

The update will include Baotou's competitive advantages, investment policies, industrial characteristics, project information, economic data, and business environment. All this will focus on hot topics such as "green development", "low-carbon economy" and "investment opportunities".

"Invest Baotou" will further get the voices and stories of Baotou on accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries on intelligence, greening, high-end development, and developing strategic emerging industries and high-tech industries.

Baotou is an important industrial city in China and a key development area for Inner Mongolia to open to the outside world. It has unique geographical and mineral advantages, a strong industrial foundation, and a leading level of technological innovation.

In 2021, Baotou's foreign trade and investment developed rapidly, and its equipment manufacturing base was approved as a national-level foreign trade transformation and upgrading base.

A total of 1,094 contracted projects were signed throughout the year, including projects with 111 enterprises ranking top 500 in global, China and China's private enterprise categories.

From January to November of 2021, Baotou's total foreign trade import and export value increased by 59 percent year-on-year.

During the same period, the city's total fixed asset investment and growth rate ranked first in Inner Mongolia autonomous region with its total economic volume returning to the top 100 cities in the country.
