50.6b yuan retrieved in China's efforts against health insurance fraud

BEIJING -- Around 50.6 billion yuan (about $7.95 billion) was retrieved from January 2018 to October 2021 in China's anti-fraud operation in the health insurance sector, according to official data.
During the same period, the national campaign targeting medical insurance fraud has seen approximately 2.34 million medical institutions inspected, Jiang Chengjia, a senior official with the National Healthcare Security Administration, said at a press conference held Wednesday in Beijing.
The administration handed out punishments to close to 1 million of the medical institutions it inspected, Jiang added.
